HARD
the past oh maybe 5 or 6 months.

good news is...it
 finally
paid off!

hooray
for getting to move into the digital world in 2010!
i'll have the opportunity to get creative
and
still make commission on sales
and
handle one of my big accounts that i've had for the past year.

I said "YES!!!"

it's official, we're engaged!
it happened friday while we were camping in north carolina. we woke up to an amazing view of the blue ridge mountains. reid started talking about how happy he was that we decided to make this trip, about how we've made it so far in the past four years. then he said, "i have something i want to give you," and got down on down on one knee! he told me he loved me very much and asked if i would marry him...

i said "yes! yes!! yes!!! i thought you would never ask!"
it was perfect.

more photos soon...

great old coca-cola billboard on the side of an original building

the same 'polariod' shot in original form

...can you see why i use the expression 'fog as thick as pea soup' ?
the fog was 'souper' thick (ha!) from knoxville all the way down past chattanooga.
hopefully more fog photos from my blackberry coming soon...

super cute finds

found this pale green and blue wash glaze platter on clearance at target- $4.95

driving back from south pittsburg, i stopped in my favorite store in chattanooga (for almost 10 years!)
they sell an ecelctic mix of tons of cute stationery, handmade jewelry, and gifts in the hip frazier avenue area.
i found this sweet little blue bird for my half bath -$8

my sister found this and this, which i think i'll order for reid's birthday just as fun joke gifts, course.
i want these for my ikea pods hanging in my kitchen.
i probably should have bought them while i was at blue skies...

if you are in the chattanooga area, you must stop here. i promise you won't be disappointed.

tennessee valley fair

Take me to the fair

Take me to the fair, dont know anywhere
I would rather be
Lets, go to the fair
Well walk hand in hand, through tomorrow land
Only you and me
I wanna see everything, do everything
While were doin it all
Ill buy the peanuts and popcorn
Well have us a ball
You can spend my pay
Crush me in the crowds, Ill be in the clouds

Honey I dont care
Take me there by sleigh
Go, lets get a bite, anywhere you like
But take me to the fair

~elvis~

we had a great time at the tn valley fair last month
and yes. those powdered sugar covered, deep fried, gooey fattening things are
fried snickers.

Sunflowers

i just finished reading this book by Debra Mancoff.
i've always loved sunflowers and it was really interesting to learn the history of the gigantic disc florets.
i never really notcied all the sunflowers in the 15th-16th century paintings i studied in art history class.

i definitely recommend it for a better than just for the coffee table book!

treats for the pup

i made these yummy smelling peanut butter treats for Murphy to enjoy.
i don’t have a doggy bone cookie cutter, so i made do with carrots, hearts, and a couple of owls (he is a bird lover!)
the little guy has a sort of sensitive stomach just like me, so i have been trying to find good recipes for treats. its fun to bake these and know exactly what is going in his little belly. we buy him good quality natural food, so why skimp on the quality of treats?

this recipe came from my great aunt Sandra.
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (i used ultragrain wheat)
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter (all-natural or organic)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons canola oil

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine oil, peanut butter and water. Add flour, one cup at a time, forming dough. Knead dough into firm ball and roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie or biscuit cutters and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

this is a good puppy treat site with several recipes that i'd like to test.
the only issue i discovered with these is that after a week or so the left over treats were a little moldy, even kept in an air tight container. i guess they should be kept in the refrigerator?

today is that day

it FINALLY stopped raining here last night,
after constant flash flood warnings and my ceiling leaking in my living room.

TODAY is one that day when you feel autumn. it's here.

73 degrees. all. day. long.

the breeze is strong and cool enough to turn off the AC and throw all the windows in the house open.
i want to eat granny smith apples with caramel and watch football all weekend.
its gorgeous living in the smokies in the fall.

etsy?

im thinking about creating an etsy site. i have tons of work to sell, and no current exhibits or work displayed anywhere...

my porfolios [dot] com site did not help and is now defunct. ive only recieved one email regarding a purchase, and that fell through over a year ago.
is it selling out to sell art on the web? i could use the money and the space it would free up.

reid got me this book for our anniversary. so far it has really inspired me to figure out a way to 'get my art out there' and to order personal/businness cards from vistaprint. i dont want to order them until i figure out my website and if i'm going to start up on etsy, i have to figure out a store name! what the crap? too many decisions up front. and really, too many people sell loads of just crap on ebay and etsy. the highest price currently listed on etsy is $1200. and guess what, its still for sale.
