treats for the pup

i made these yummy smelling peanut butter treats for Murphy to enjoy.
i don’t have a doggy bone cookie cutter, so i made do with carrots, hearts, and a couple of owls (he is a bird lover!)
the little guy has a sort of sensitive stomach just like me, so i have been trying to find good recipes for treats. its fun to bake these and know exactly what is going in his little belly. we buy him good quality natural food, so why skimp on the quality of treats?

this recipe came from my great aunt Sandra.
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (i used ultragrain wheat)
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter (all-natural or organic)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons canola oil

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine oil, peanut butter and water. Add flour, one cup at a time, forming dough. Knead dough into firm ball and roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie or biscuit cutters and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

this is a good puppy treat site with several recipes that i'd like to test.
the only issue i discovered with these is that after a week or so the left over treats were a little moldy, even kept in an air tight container. i guess they should be kept in the refrigerator?

day trip to chattanooga

for grandaddy rousseau's 81st i traveled down to chattanooga for the day.
i got stuck at the train tracks close to their house. the sound of a train at night always reminds me of the weeks i would spend with them over the summer as a child.
you can see the earthquake cookies i made on the table, as well as the valentine sugar cookies. i didnt take enough close ups before everyone dug in.
bon anniversaire grand-pere rousseau!
